Grand Cayman Shore Excursions

What Grand Cayman lacks in overall island beauty, she makes up for with some of the best and unique excursions in the Caribbean. There are plenty of shops, eateries and pubs located within walking distance to the cruise ships but to really experience what makes Grand Cayman unique you must book an excursion.

The number one excursion in Grand Cayman if not all of the Caribbean has to be swimming with stingrays in Stingray City. This one excursion alone is enough to put Grand Cayman on the list of top 10 cruise destinations. You can couple this tour with other snorkeling stops but the main attraction is the shallow sand bar where wild stingrays have been coming to feed out of tourist hands since the 1980′s. The rays range from small to pretty big and some can even be held out of the water for photo ops. Although you should always leave the holding to the guides. These are still wild animals with very dangerous barbs.

If you prefer to remain dry but still want to see some of the colorful sea life surrounding Grand Cayman then check out the Atlantis Submarine Expedition. The subs hold up to 48 passengers in air conditioned comfort and descend up to 100 feet inside Cayman’s National Marine Park where colorful fish and coral await.

For a unique opportunity you can visit the town of Hell located in the Northwest of Grand Cayman and named for the black limestone formations that have formed there. The area isn’t very big but the novelty of being able to send a postcard from Hell is intriguing to many tourist making this small town one of the most visited spots on the island.

For a great inexpensive cruise to Grand Cayman try booking a trip on the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas which will soon be selling to the Caribbean out of New Orleans. Cruise on the Navigator start around $500 for inside cabins and aren’t much more for upgraded staterooms.
